YouTube’s requirements

Checked October 14, 2026 (UTC), against YouTube Help: Manage your channel branding, in the section about adding a video watermark.

YouTube watermark size

YouTube asks for a square image, at least 150 × 150 pixels, and a file smaller than 1 MB. This is the stated YouTube video watermark size requirement. The section does not state a recommended YouTube watermark logo size beyond that minimum.

The tool compares the actual PNG with 1,000,000 bytes as a conservative decimal interpretation of 1 MB. YouTube Help does not define the byte threshold. A file at or above that threshold is marked “Does not meet”; it is not automatically reduced. The local checks do not submit your file to YouTube.

You can show the watermark for the last 15 seconds, from a start time you choose, or for the entire video. It does not appear on videos marked made for kids, including videos later changed to that setting. It is available on computers and mobile devices in landscape view; it is not clickable on mobile devices. It does not appear in custom chromeless players or Adobe Flash.

YouTube Help does not state a file format or a position in this section. PNG is this tool’s output format; the illustrated corner is this tool’s choice.

How to add it in YouTube Studio

  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
  2. From the left menu, select Customization → Profile.
  3. Select when to display the video watermark: the end of the video (last 15 seconds), a custom start time, or the entire video.
  4. Click Change, select an image, adjust its size, then click Done.
  5. Click Publish.

These steps follow the linked YouTube Help section, checked October 14, 2026 (UTC).

Questions

Does the image leave my browser?

No. This YouTube watermark maker decodes the selected image, draws it on a canvas and encodes the PNG on your device. The page keeps one image in memory until you replace it or leave.

Is it free?

Yes. There is no account, payment or daily usage counter. You can use it repeatedly, and ThumbGlance adds no mark to the downloaded image.

What size should I export?

YouTube states at least 150 × 150 pixels and less than 1 MB; this section gives no recommended dimensions. Choose a side length from 150 to 1000 in this tool and inspect the actual byte count.

What are the tool’s input limits?

One static JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 25 MiB (26,214,400 bytes) and 40,000,000 decoded pixels. Animated images are not supported. These are tool limits, not YouTube requirements. Enlarging cannot add missing detail; browser encoders can produce different byte counts.
