What this banner resizer does
Use it to resize an image for a YouTube banner without an account or an upload. Choose a photo or artwork, pick 2560 × 1440 or 2048 × 1152, and the page redraws it at that size in your browser. Fill crops the image to cover the whole banner; the crop position slider moves the crop. Fit keeps the whole image and pads the rest with your chosen colour.
It also works as a YouTube banner size converter for a file that is the wrong shape: a square logo, a phone photo or a 1920 × 1080 screenshot all come out at 16:9 banner dimensions. Enlarging a small image cannot add detail, so start from the largest source you have.
The download is the exact file shown in the preview. The status line gives its pixel size and its size in bytes after encoding.
The safe area guide
YouTube crops the banner differently on TVs, computers and phones. Its Help page gives one area that stays visible everywhere: 1235 × 338 pixels in the middle of a 2048 × 1152 banner. That is 60.3% of the width and 29.3% of the height.
The dashed box in the preview marks that same share of your output, centered. On a 2560 × 1440 banner it works out to about 1544 × 423 pixels. Keep your channel name, logo and any text inside it. The guide is drawn on the preview only and is not part of the downloaded file. It is hidden when the output is not 16:9.
In our own YouTube Studio upload test, the “Viewable on all devices” region of a 2560 × 1440 ruler image began between 500 and 600 pixels from the left and ended between 2000 and 2100, which agrees with this box.
Official banner guidance
Checked October 11, 2026. YouTube Help lists a minimum upload of 2048 × 1152 pixels at 16:9, a recommended size of 2560 × 1440 pixels, a safe area for text and logos of 1235 × 338 pixels at the minimum size, and a file size of 6 MB or smaller.
This tool compares the encoded file with 6,000,000 bytes. A PNG of a detailed photo can exceed that at 2560 × 1440; switch to JPG or lower the JPG quality and watch the byte count change.

Input, output & limits
Static JPG, PNG and WebP inputs only. Input limit: 25 MiB (26,214,400 bytes) and 40,000,000 decoded pixels. Output width and height: 1–4096 pixels each. These are this tool's limits, not YouTube requirements.
One image at a time, with no daily limit. The file lives only in this page's memory and is discarded when you reload or close the page.
Browser encoders differ, so the same settings can produce slightly different bytes in another browser.
Questions, answered
What size should a YouTube banner be?
Upload 2560 × 1440 pixels if you can. 2048 × 1152 is the smallest size YouTube accepts.
Why is part of my banner cut off on my phone?
Phones and computers show only a band across the middle of the banner. Keep important content inside the dashed safe area.
Can I resize a banner without cropping it?
Choose Fit. The whole image is kept and the empty space is filled with the background colour.
Are my pictures stored?
No. There is no upload and no server-side storage. The page keeps the current image in memory until you replace it or leave.
