PINTEREST IMAGE SIZES

Pinterest pin size.

1000 × 1500 px at 2:3 is Pinterest’s recommended size and ratio for a standard image ad, a format the current specification says can also generate organic impressions. The ordinary Image Pin page states no pixels. This is an independent tool, not affiliated with Pinterest.

Pinterest image and video sizes, checked against official pages

These values were printed by Pinterest Help on October 25, 2026 (UTC). Ordinary Pin specs and ad specs are separate pages. The ordinary Image Pin page states no pixel size or aspect ratio, so the headline value comes from the standard image ad section and is labelled that way. “Not stated” means the linked official page did not publish that value in the text we read. The cropper exports still images at the selected format’s canvas ratio; it does not encode video.

Official file types: ordinary image Pins accept BMP, JPEG, PNG, TIFF and WEBP; standard image ads accept PNG or JPEG; Carousel ads accept PNG or JPEG; Collections ads accept PNG or JPEG for images; Idea ads accept BMP, JPEG, PNG, TIFF or WEBP for images. Pinterest’s ad page says uploaded images are converted to 8-bit RGB JPEGs. These are published limits, not guarantees about feed display.

Common claim vs the official text

Common claim: use 1000 × 2100 px, or ratios up to 1:2.1, to avoid cropping. Official text: Pinterest recommends “a 2:3 aspect ratio, or 1000 x 1500 pixels” for a standard image ad and says “Pins with an aspect ratio greater than 2:3 might get cut off in people’s feeds.” The official page does not name 1000 × 2100 or 1:2.1 as a safe threshold. The ordinary image Pin page does not state a pixel size or ratio.

This comparison records the common claim as a claim, not as a Pinterest specification. It does not promise that any longer image will be displayed in full.

Before you upload

  • Choose an image to see the four checks.

The checks cover the exported pixels, the selected published ratio, the published file-size ceiling and JPG/PNG format. When Pinterest does not publish a ceiling for the selected format, the file-size check says Not stated. This does not promise that Pinterest will keep the image sharp after upload.

Pinterest Pin dimensions, without guessing

The current Pinterest pin size answer depends on the format and on whether you are reading ordinary Pin guidance or ad specifications. Pinterest’s standard image ad section recommends 1000 × 1500 px at 2:3. The ordinary Image Pin specification lists file types and limits but no pixel size or ratio. Square, Carousel, Collections, video and Idea formats each have their own published rules in the table above.

The page uses the ad page for the 1000 × 1500 recommendation because that is where Pinterest currently prints it. It does not claim that the same page gives a pixel value for every organic Pin.

Why long Pins are uncertain

Pinterest says a Pin with an aspect ratio greater than 2:3 “might get cut off in people’s feeds.” The word “might” matters: the page does not guarantee that a longer image will be shown in full.

This tool can crop a source to a selected published format ratio, but it cannot predict Pinterest’s feed crop. It checks the encoded file, not the live Pinterest interface.

How to use this Pinterest Pin cropper

  1. Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image from your device.
  2. Select a Pinterest format. Use Fill to crop to the canvas or Fit to keep the whole image with a background colour.
  3. Choose 1× or 2×, JPG or PNG, then inspect the preview and the four checks.
  4. Download or copy the encoded file. If a published file-size ceiling is exceeded, lower the JPG quality and export again.

Every crop is made locally in this browser. No account is needed and no image is sent to ThumbGlance.

Questions

What is the Pinterest Pin size?

Pinterest’s current standard image ad specification recommends 1000 × 1500 px at 2:3. The ordinary Image Pin page does not publish a pixel size or ratio, so this page keeps the two scopes separate.

What if my image is longer than 2:3?

Pinterest says an aspect ratio greater than 2:3 might get cut off in people’s feeds. The official page does not guarantee that a longer image will be shown in full.

Does 2× guarantee a sharper Pin?

No. It exports twice the selected width and height at the same ratio. It cannot add detail that was not in the source image and does not predict Pinterest’s processing.

Are my images uploaded or stored?

No. Decoding, cropping and encoding happen in this browser. The page does not upload or store your image.

Where do the numbers come from?

Each row links to a Pinterest Help page read on 2026-10-25 UTC. Values a page did not state are marked Not stated rather than filled from another site.
