Pick one of four gaming thumbnail layouts, add your own game screenshot and title, and download a 1280 × 720 PNG. Everything runs in your browser; your images are never uploaded.
Your 1280 × 720 design · scaled to fit this screenWatch-page sidebar, 1280 px window: 215 px wideSearch results, computer: 500 px wide
These CSS widths come from one computer, one measurement on October 10, 2026. YouTube may change its layouts, so your sizes can differ. See the display-size measurement table. On a narrow screen, scroll the search preview horizontally: the image remains 500 CSS px wide.
Preparing preview…
YouTube’s video thumbnail guidance says under 2 MB for mobile uploads. Our conservative line is 2,000,000 bytes; the decimal versus binary boundary has not been tested. Reaching or exceeding that line is flagged. A file below it still needs a Studio upload check. JPG is available after a PNG reaches the line, at quality 0.9 and the same pixels; PNG is never automatically converted.
Pick a layout and add your own game screenshot and optional second image.
Type a short title. Choose a color, system font and outline, then inspect both measured display-size previews.
Download PNG and check the pixels and bytes read back from the file. Open it in the thumbnail tester for other preview contexts.
Layouts that read at small sizes
Face + title places a reaction photo in a rounded frame on the right, with two or three short title lines on the left. VS split puts one image on each side with a central VS badge and a title strip above. Center + title places a character image above a bottom title. Ranked number puts a large number on the left and a title on the right.
At our measured 215 px sidebar width, a long sentence becomes small type. Keep the title short and check the actual preview before exporting. The number layout can mark a ranked list; the comparison layout can show two game moments. These are layout choices, not predictions about viewers.
Music thumbnail and vlog thumbnail
For a music thumbnail, use your own album or performance image and the song name. For a vlog thumbnail, use your own person photo and a one-line title. Use a circle or rounded frame for an ordinary photo, or As is for your own PNG with a transparent background. This tool does not remove backgrounds.
Gaming thumbnail maker and template
This gaming thumbnail maker runs in your browser, free of charge. It needs no account and has no usage counter; export as often as you need. Your images stay on this device. There is no template library: four layouts, edited here.
Each gaming thumbnail template arranges your own images and words. The tool does not remove backgrounds or generate images. Bring your own PNG with a transparent background for an unframed character, or keep the circle or rounded frame. For a different text position, use the thumbnail maker; for more layout examples, see thumbnail ideas.
Questions
Does my image leave my browser?
No. Image decoding, drawing and export happen locally; the tool does not send your image to a server.
Is it free?
Yes. No account, payment or usage limit is required.
What size should a gaming thumbnail be?
This tool exports 1280 × 720. For YouTube’s recommended resolution and device-specific upload limits, see the size guide.
Can it remove the background from my face photo?
No. Use your own PNG with a transparent background, or keep the circle or rounded frame. As is preserves existing transparency; it does not remove a photo’s background.
Is there a template library?
No. Choose one of the four layouts and edit it here.
